Anthropic just dropped a new feature called Skills for Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise Claude users aimed at making creating with the generative AI chatbot easier than ever. Skills can free up time for you to focus on more important tasks in Claude.
Skills are specialized folders with predefined instructions for Claude that can be loaded into the project, saving you from needing to teach it how to respond to certain data. Skills can help in several ways, including document creation or ensuring that Claude’s output follows your organization’s brand guidelines.
Don’t miss any of our unbiased tech content and lab-based reviews. Add CNET as a preferred Google source.
The new feature is available across products, including apps, Claude Code, its Developer Platform, and Agent SDK. Aimed at professionals looking to get the most out of Claude, Skills is a way to enhance productivity and get consistent, expert-level output from your projects.

This screenshot provided by Anthropic shows how you can pick which skills to use for a particular task you give Claude.
Skills folders can contain important documentation such as guidelines, legal clauses to reference, brand tone and scripts that can be applied to a project without having to include these points every time. That means creating ready-to-go documents in multiple formats, turning data into visualizations and charts. Want to change something? Update the skills folder with the latest information and have it applied in an instant to your documents.
Anthropic also released a new model for Claude this week. Called Haiku 4.5, it promises to be faster and more efficient than other models, with the same coding skills as the previous Sonnet version, Sonnet 4.
